Downtown South’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony to Feature Weekend of Activities
ORLANDO, Fla. (November 13, 2014) – The second annual Light Up Downtown South will feature a weekend of activities, culminating with a 6 p.m. Christmas Tree lighting on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Lake Beauty Park.
Breakfast with Santa, at the Peach Valley Café, 2849 S. Orange Avenue, kicks off the fun at 8 a.m., Saturday, December 6 from 8 a.m. to noon.
On Sunday, choirs from Blankner School, Christ School and Boone High School will sing carols and Santa Claus will light the decorated 20-foot live tree, located at the corner of South Orange Avenue and Miller Street at the entrance to Orlando Health. Prior to the tree lighting, the Orlando City Soccer mascot, Kingston and their street team, as well as two very special princesses will be delighting children young and old throughout the park. Food trucks will also be on hand. Residents are encouraged to come early and enjoy all the fun activities.
Corporate sponsors for the event are Orlando Health, SoDo and City Commissioner Patty Sheehan. Free parking will be available in Orlando Health parking garages, parking lots of the medical professional buildings surrounding the lake, and on the street.
